MS Paint v6 Sherdog Store. In the UFC are you allowed to stomp the body? Joined: Jan 23, Messages: 11, Likes Received: 1, I would think no since I never see it but I was just reading a thread about Travis Browne and I started thinking about him and Overeems fight when Overeem had him very hurt on the ground up against the cage and he was on all fours, why wouldn't Overeem just get up and start stomping on his back or boot him to the ribs.

That being said, to move forward, backwards, left and right you need to make sure never to cross your feet. Doing so will make you vulnerable to attacks. Footwork is so important in boxing, because it allows you to get in position to deliver your combinations with the highest chance to connect. Not only that, but it has weak points, big holes for the nose and eyes.
Even if you could apply the pressure required to crack the bone, the face would rupture well before the top of the head as seen in S4E8. Cartilage is avascular, meaning that it has no blood supply. The lack of blood circulation in cartilage means that it is a very slow-healing type of tissue. Nutrition to cartilage is maintained by fluid in the joints, which lubricates the tissue.
A fighter pulling hair would be painful and could be used to gain a position or stop the fighter from gaining position. Most fighters don't get the opportunity to use such a strike. These elbows are more dangerous than a normal elbow strike, and they can cause serious damage. This is something that you could have seen in Pride but will never see inside the Octagon.
Kicks, knees, stomps and any type of strike was legal to the head of a grounded opponent. That means that positions like sprawl, north-south and side control were much more dangerous in Pride than they are in the UFC.
Any of these illegal strikes can cause a stoppage to action, point deductions and possible disqualification losses. Probably the most widely-seen illegal move inside the Octagon is when a fighter grabs the fence, or puts their hand on top of the cage.
